I've learnt my lesson, don't go to polyclinics unless it's only a
common cold.... the doctors at the polyclinics are only trained as
'Common Ailments Specialists'.
Why on earth would you go to a doctor if you have a cold?
Answer:
You must understand the mentality here. Going to the doctor will
enable you to obtain the coveted Medical Certificate (MC). An excuse
to get a free day off and antibiotics to produce more ampicillin and
tetracyclin resistant bugs.
Talking about antibiotic resistant bugs, the problem is growing no thanks
to these people going to the doctor for colds. People here fail to see
that this problem is the problem of the whole earth and is not confined
to national boundaries.
BTW, I belong to the self-medication camp when it comes to colds. Namely
chicken soup, peppermint cough mixtures and anti-histamines.
