Rommel accross the Nile?

Question:
Question is when was Syria occupied in 1941...before or AFTER the POD that gets Rommel to/across the Nile?

Answer:
Well, the POD's I have seen so far all talk about events in 1942. You did post about what would happen if Alexandria fell in 1941 but I didn't see a POD in there. the only practical comeback is overland - from Basra, Aqaba, Suakin, and even Mombasa. (Suakin is limited enough that the Allies would probably establish an additional line of supply from Mombasa to the upper Nile via Lake Victoria.)

Also, I'm not sure Aqaba would be usable even if held. The Axis would almost certainly push up the Nile to the First Cataract, and sweep the area between the Nile and Red Sea. With Axis air bases on the coast, shipping to Aqaba will be running a very dangerous gauntlet.
