Question:
Has anyone heard of what I'll call 'overglasses' - sunglasses that can be
worn over normal glasses. Have you any other suggestions?
Answer:
Yes, they are glasses called "Solar Shields". They have other names
also. They are typically worn by post-cataract patients. Hence, you
will see many older people wearing these sunglasses. They fit quite
easily over your regular glasses. They are marketed under several
different names. I am in the healthcare industry and deal with this
quite frequently. Usual cost is between $20-$30. Ask your local
ophthalmologist. They probably stock them in the office. They furnish
them many times at no charge for their cataract patients. The cost is
factored into the surgery many times. Also, since most cataract
patients are senior citizens, Medicare usually absorbs the cost.
