*Tryptophan metabolites cause cataracts

Question:
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) induces indoleamine dioxygenase in peripheral tissues to catabolize tryptophan, and it induces fever. Perhaps a low-level fever (and the elevated free radical activity associated with fever) is the cause of the cataracts? We know that antioxidant depletion and cross linking are associated with cataracts, both of which are free-radical related. As a result, people with cataracts had much higher level of key tryptophan by-products circulating in thier blood; it was known that those by-products caused lens damage. At the concentrations found? Was this tested?

Answer:
Well, just plenty NAC etc, best might be GSH-ethylmonoester or such, meanwhile NAC and maybe fresh Wheat Grass J and possibly Mung Beans could help in addition to E and C-vitamins to keep the cataracts away. One major reason for cataracts is GSH-deficiency, and that can be caused for ex. by acetaminophen, that very many people take daily, as well as heavy metal poisonings by lead and mercury for example, compared to the previosly mentioned, tryptophan metabolites are propably quite innocent in their cataract causing potential ... Practically almost anything that conjugates with GSH can cause the caratracts trough GSH-depletion, and there are thousands and thousands of such medicals and poisons etc. Maybe the Tryptophan was polluted by mercury or lead ...
